Doctrinal Statement
WHAT WE BELIEVE:
Core beliefs of Celebration Community Church
The following are the core beliefs of Celebration Community Church.
By no means are these a comprehensive list. These are the foundational beliefs that all others originate from.
(Bible Translation is New King James Version).
1. The Inspiration of the Bible—The Bible is:
… the Written Word of God.
“knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit...” - 2 Peter 1:20-21
… our Source of Authority for belief and practice.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:16,17
2. The Sufficiency of Christ’s Blood Atonement—Salvation is …
... Humanity’s Greatest Need...
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” - Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death…” - Romans 6:23
... God’s Provision…
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16
“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23
... A Gift of God's Grace and Mercy; a Choice and an Act of Faith …
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” - John 1:12,13
“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” - Romans 10:9,10
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.” - Ephesians 2:8,9
3. Baptism
(One of the Two Ordinances of the Church, along with The Lord’s Supper)
... It is an Act of Obedience…
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
... It is an Outward Expression of an Inward Commitment and change…
“Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" 38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” - Acts 2:37,38
... It is to be done by immersion…
“So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.” - Acts 8:38,39
4. The Holy Spirit
... Baptizes and Seals us…
“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. - Ephesians 1:13
... Fills us...
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” - Ephesians 5:18 (KJV)
... Equips us...
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” - John 16:13
... Empowers us...
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” - Acts 1:8
5. Authority
- God: Source of all authority
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. - Colossians 2:9-10
- God’s Word: The Bible
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:16,17
- God’s Delegated Authority: Leadership
“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. - Romans 13:1
“Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” - Hebrews 13:17
6. Giving: Tithes and Offerings to the work of God in His church
“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this," Says the LORD of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. - Malachi 3:10
... It is an expression of obedience to God and trust in God.
... It is accompanied by a promise of both testing & blessing.
7. Ministry: Serving others with the abilities and power that God provides in your life through the Holy Spirit.
... Serving Others...
“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” - Galatians 5:13
... Using your Gifts & Abilities for God's Glory...
“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit.” - I Corinthians 12:4-7
... All Power belongs to God...
“To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.” - Colossians 1:29
... All Offices of the Church are Subject to God...
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” - Ephesians 4:11,12
